Frank Weathered was born and raised in Waco, Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a membership in Phi Beta Kappa and received his Bachelor of Arts degree, with Highest Honors, in 1975. He then attended the Law School at Texas Tech University, where he became an Editor of the Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. He also received the William R. Moss Award for Excellency in Trial Advocacy. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, with High Honors, in 1978.
He began his legal career in 1978 as a Law Clerk to Justice Gerald T. Bissett on the Court of Appeals for the Thirteenth District of Texas, where he served for two years. In October 1980 he joined the insurance defense section of Meredith & Donnell, P.C., a Corpus Christi firm, and in July 1984 he became a partner in that firm. In September 1985 he joined the insurance defense firm of Brin & Brin, P.C., in Corpus Christi, where he was Of Counsel. In February 1989 he left Brin & Brin, P.C., to join the Law Office of David J. Dunn, P.C.
Mr. Weathered has extensive experience in the field of civil appellate law. He was one of the first lawyers in Texas to be Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Appellate Law. He has argued numerous appeals, including cases in various Courts of Appeal in Texas, the Texas Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is licensed to practice in Texas, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and of the Corpus Christi Bar Association. He is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. Mr. Weathered is a frequent speaker on appellate topics at continuing legal education seminars.
